Rod Casey
A native of
A decorated veteran, Rod served 21 years in the United States Air Force, including assignments in Europe, the Pacific, Tactical Air Command Headquarters (now Air Combat Command), and numerous stateside Air Force Bases. A command pilot with over 3,000 hours of tactical fighter experience, Rod flew four different fighter aircraft, culminating his flying career as a combat-ready aircraft commander in the F-16 Fighting Falcon. He served on the prestigious Tactical Air Command, Inspector General Team where he was chosen "Inspector of the Year." During his last assignment at Moody Air Force Base, he served as Commander of the 450-person Component Repair Squadron responsible for over $450 million in assets. In 1992, he was assigned as Deputy Commander for Logistics, a 1,600-person organization, at Moody Air Force Base. Rod retired in 1994, culminating a distinguished military career.
After retiring, Rod entered the business world by starting his own advertising specialty business. In November 1995, he ran for public office and was elected to the Valdosta City Council. Since 1997, he has been with Coldwell Banker Commercial Real Estate, where he specializes in commercial investment properties. In November 2000, Rod was elected Chairman of the Lowndes County Board of Commissioners. Rod is active in the community as a member of the Rotary Club, a member of the Chamber of Commerce, volunteer coach for the Boys and Girls Club, an energetic supporter of scouting and member of the Alapaha Area Scout Council, a member of the Lowndes Valdosta Arts Commission, and a member of U.S. Senator Zell Miller’s Military Advisory Council, as well as many boards and authorities.
