WARNING: VA Prescription Scam

Friday, September 18, 2009  Contact: Brian Zeringue, Public Information Manager, 404-656-5933

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has notified the Georgia Department of Veterans Service that "Patient Care Group" representatives are contacting veterans under the pretense of helping them to obtain their VA prescriptions because the pharmacy billing procedures have changed.

These "representatives" seek to obtain credit card and other personal information so the prescriptions can be "paid in advance" of filling.

These "representatives" are operating under false pretenses.

VA has not changed pharmacy billing or prescription refill procedures. VA representatives do not call veterans and ask them to disclose personal financial information over the telephone. Veterans should not disclose personal information to "Patient Care Group" representatives.
